Nancy O'Dell's career began in Myrtle Beach South Carolina as a news reporter and anchor for WPDE-TV. Later she was a morning-news anchor as well as a crime reporter at WCBD TV. O'Dell's reportage on the streets of Charleston about the police's leniency toward DUI cases resulted in the State Law Enforcement Division investigating these instances. Ms. O'Dell received her Best Report of the Award from the Associated Press for South Carolina's media. Following her work in Charleston O'Dell worked as a anchor and investigative reporter at the NBC Miami station WTVJ-TV before joining Access Hollywood as a weekend anchor and a weekday reporter. Her current position as host for Access Hollywood is complemented by her contributions to NBC News Today, Dateline NBC, and NBC News.
